Thought For The Week – Thoughts From Limitless Leaders

Debbie, Ellie and Bina share their thoughts from this year’s Limitless Leaders conference.

Debbie’s was from a session when we talked about the ‘but’; the idea that but God this might be happening, but God is greater, God is better. We focused on 2 Corinthians 4:8:

we are hard-pressed on every side but not crushed perplexed but not in despair persecuted but not abandoned struck down but not destroyed.

2 Corinthians 4:8

I don’t know what you’re going through right now, but I do know that God is bigger than that situation. He has put his power inside you to cope with all these different situations that you might find, and it says that however difficult things are, God is with us. So remember today that God is your strength, God is exactly who you need, turn to Him. Even when you’re going through the most difficult times, it will not be the end, it will not be, you won’t get to a point where you can’t cope anymore, because God is with you and you are not going to be destroyed because God is in with you.

Something that really stood out to Ellie was a quote that Tim Alford said: “show me your friends and I’ll show you your future, the people you’re hanging out with today will shape your tomorrow.” We then looked at Hebrews 10:24-25 which says:

and then let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds but giving up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing but encouraging one another.

Hebrews 10:24-25

So what I took away from this is that as Christians we need to spur one another on, we need to push each other closer to God and encourage one another. So this week I do want to encourage you to send someone a nice message, encourage them and help them grow closer to God.

For Bina one of the things said that she loved is that old orders are still good orders until there are new orders and the gospel is an ancient order. One of the scriptures says:

but we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all suppressing power is from God and not from us.

2 Corinthians 4:7

And this all-suppressing power is the gospel of God. Sometimes we might forget that when the scripture says we’re hard-pressed and we don’t know what to do, we might be stuck. But in this present weakness, how much do we trust in God? Do we actually still have confidence in the gospel that it is enough and sometimes we have to reflect on this and think that Jesus still has power in the gospel and therefore he still has power in my situation.
