Glorifying God, serving one another, extending His kingdom.
Rachel Tofts Signed Sealed Delivered

Signed Sealed Delivered

Looking at 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, Rachel Tofts speaks on how we are a letter of recommendation, being signed sealed delivered by God.

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone, revealing that you are a letter of Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on stone tablets but on tablets of human hearts.

2 Corinthians 3:2-3

New heart and a new spirit

I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh Ezekiel 36:26 (ESV)

Living and abiding word at salvation

  • At salvation, when we are born again, through the living and abiding word of God, through the living and abiding word of God; we are now made of imperishable seed (1 Peter 1:23)

We are marked and set apart

  • As a chosen people, precious to God, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:4, 9)
  • As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, v4
  • But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. V9

We belong to God

  • He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession (James 1:18)

Sealed by the Holy Spirit

  • He is the third part of the Trinity, a person and He lives in us. The same Spirit, the same power, that rose Jesus from the dead, lives in us. Romans 8:11
  • He is the Helper, Who teaches and reminds us. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26.
  • He has given us gifts to serve each other, not ourselves. To build up His church to encourage each other and advance His Kingdom – 1 Corinthians 12
  • He strengthens us to live the life God has called us to do “that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being” Ephesians 3:16
  • He bears witness of Jesus – And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 1 John 5:6
  • He also testifies of us as Children of God – he Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:16
  • And He is the Helper and intercedes for us – Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26
  • He helps us to produce the Christ-like character in us, so that we are more like Jesus in our outward actions

Delivered from death and into life

  • The greatest gift – Jesus did it all!

Delivered from old habits

  • Transforming our minds – holding onto God’s Kingdom truths (Romans 12:2)
  • Spending time with God is key – the more time spent with Him, the more we become like Him
  • Knowing the truths in His living word, worshipping and prayer

Delivered into situations and places

  • We bring Jesus to places that haven’t seen or heard of Him – love your neighbour (Matthew 22:39)
  • God has equipped us. In His strength, our actions and our words can and will reflect Jesus
  • Glorifying God and in turn people are brought into His Kingdom
