Barbie shares her thought for the week; seasons.
I love springtime. It’s my favourite season of the year. I love the fact that everything is crisp and green and new. I adore that. Now, I appreciate that some of you might find other seasons more to your liking. Some of you might love those long, warm days of summer. Or you might prefer the colours that are so evident in autumn. Or maybe it’s the cool crispness of winter that you love. I know this, that every single season is brought about by God.
Ecclesiastes 3 verse 1 tells me that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. Some of us equate seasons to our time of life. You get the springtime of childhood or the summertime of young adulthood. There is the autumn of middle age or the winter of old age. Every season is created by God and has its promises. When I think of winter, I think of the brown fields with nothing much happening in them.
But it reminds me of Hebrews 11 verse 1 which tells me that faith is a substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen. You see, when those seeds that are lying under those brown fields are not just dying but what they’re doing is they’re growing and they’re bringing new life about. When we get to spring, we suddenly see the evidence of that which was yet unseen and we see that new birth springing forth. I remember then that God says that I am a new creation and that He created me as a new creation and that the old is gone and the new has come. Summer reminds me that God cares for me.
Matthew 6 tells me that He created the birds and even the wild flowers that are so beautiful but are here today and gone tomorrow. And that He created me and He cares even more for me. And when I think of the autumn, I don’t only think of the beautiful colours but I think about harvest and planting. I know that this is a time when harvest happens and this is a time when planting for the new year happens. And reminds me that the Bible says that the fields are white unto harvest and God needs workers to harvest those fields into His kingdom. He’s got a job for me.
Remember whatever season you’re in right now, you are exactly where God wants you to be. Every single season has its beauty, its benefits and its promises. Know that you are in one of those seasons that God has created for you right now. Be blessed.
