Aaron shares his thought for the week; resting in God’s presence.
In Genesis, we see God’s account of how He created the heavens and the earth. We know that over six days, God created everything, and on the seventh day, He rested.
I think there are some really important truths for us as human beings to understand about the importance of rest. God goes on to explain this later in Scripture through the importance of having a Sabbath rest during the week.
I was reading a book this week and realised something. Maybe I had thought that God needed to rest, but when I think about it, God is limitless. God didn’t need to rest. In fact, Scripture tells us that when He created over those six days, He simply spoke and things were created.
Did God need a break on the seventh day? Or, actually, did God on the seventh day step into the very thing that He created the heavens and the earth for? God created the earth so that He could dwell here with human beings. We’re told in the creation account that God would walk in the garden in the cool of the evening with Adam.
God created everything that we see and know so that He could enjoy human beings, and so that human beings could enjoy Him and His presence.
I’d love to encourage you that this is an opportunity this week for you to enjoy the very thing that God created you for: to rest and be with Him face to face. Set some time aside this week, perhaps even today, to simply listen to Him. It might be 30 seconds, it might be a minute, or it might be longer than that.
Just take a moment to hear from God, enjoy His presence, and recognise that He is there.
Have a great week!
