A new season is here. Is God preparing you for something new? Kit shares his thought for the week; changing of the seasons.

We are now in the second week of September, which means we have left summer and entered autumn. With the changing of the season, it’s not just things that have changed in terms of the climate, but also in our personal lives.

We’re in a new academic year, so many of us could be starting secondary school, going to university, starting a master’s degree or a doctorate. For some of us, there may be a promotion at work, a new job, or a change in our careers.

As we’ve exited the last season of summer and entered this new season of autumn, I was reminded that we should give thanks for the season that has passed and pray for provision and blessings for the season that is to come.

Potentially, you haven’t had the best of the summer season. Perhaps you’ve had some bad news, or things haven’t worked out as planned. Or maybe you’ve had a great summer season and things have worked out perfectly.

But whether it’s been good or bad, we can still give thanks to God for His faithfulness. We can still give thanks that He is working through His perfect will for our lives.

As we enter this new season of autumn, we can pray to God for provision, blessings, strength and guidance, whether we’re starting a new course of education, beginning a new job, or entering any other new season of life.

So, I just want to lead us in a prayer as we give thanks for the season that has passed and for the season that is to come.

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the season that has just happened. We thank You for the summer months. We thank You that You have brought us through and that You have been faithful to us again.

Lord, we pray now as we enter this new season, this new time of the year where You may have called us into new areas of our lives.

Lord, will You give us wisdom and guide us faithfully through the new things that are to come?

Lord, we lift up Your name and we praise You.

In Jesus’ name we pray.
