Three Keys To Living In God’s Will

Kevin shares his thought for the week based on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 where Paul gives three keys to living in God’s will.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Paul wrote to the Church of Thessalonica and shared three keys to living in God’s will,

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

The key words for me here in all three verses are “always,” “continually,” and “in all circumstances.” As Christians, we know we need to rejoice, which is to live in the joy of the Lord. We know that we need to pray, which means we don’t stop talking to God or communicating with Him. We know it is important to be grateful to God when we say, “Give thanks.” But what Paul stresses here is he says in these three verses: “always,” “continually,” and “in all circumstances.”

This means living in the joy of the Lord has to be irrespective of what’s going on around us. Praying continually means we don’t stop talking to or hearing from God. We need to communicate with Him all the time. And he says, “Give thanks in all circumstances,” which is to live a life of gratefulness irrespective of what the circumstances are. These three things have to be consistently and without any exceptions followed, and there are no limitations of time, space, or situation.

He says, “This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus,” and we aim to follow God’s will every moment of life. And if we choose to do that, we need to live in the joy of the Lord. We need to pray, and we need to give thanks all the time and in all circumstances. This is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus, and this is what it means to live a life in Christ.

I hope you have a great week.
