Aaron shares his thought for the week; the God who sees you.
In Genesis 16 we’re introduced to a lady in scripture called Hagar. Now Hagar is the slave of Sarai who is Abraham’s wife. Now unfortunately Sarai mistreats Hagar and it causes Hagar to flee. And in verse 7 of chapter 16 it says
the angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert
Genesis 16:7
I love the fact, I mean we know that God knows where Hagar is already but the fact that it says he found Hagar means that the Lord was actively out looking for her. Now the angel of the Lord then speaks to Hagar and tells her that actually the Lord wants her to go back and that she’s going to give birth to a son. And actually in this moment the lady Hagar gives this name to the Lord. She calls the Lord ‘El Roy’. El Roy meaning the God who sees me.
Now I don’t know where you might find yourself watching this Thought for the Week and I don’t know what place in your life you’re at at the moment but I would love to encourage you today that the Lord is out looking for you. Maybe you’re finding yourself in a difficult situation at work and you’re kind of like going I need to run away from that. Maybe you’re like God do you even have a plan for my life? What is the future looking like? Let me tell you that there is a God and his name is El Roy. He sees you, he knows you, he loves you and he wants to find you.
You know one of the amazing things we just spent as a staff team some time away in Harrogate with about 2,000 other people worshiping the Lord and I found myself on the floor behind a load of chairs and kneeling down and just just crying out to God – and you know one of the overwhelming things that I was aware of is God sees me. In amongst all these people, in amongst the chaos, the noise, everything else, God sees me. Let it be an encouragement to you.
God is El Roy.
