Esther shares her thought for the week; is that the time?
There is a saying, “Time waits for no one,” but is that true? What does it mean? Should we rely on time? This phrase is a metaphorical expression. Time cannot wait or move. It is a bit like thunder and wind. We hear thunder and feel the wind, but never see it. Yet, its impact is undeniable.
But should we rely on time? I see people at bus stops, train stations, and children getting dropped off at school. All those people are relying not just on transport but also on arriving at their destinations on time. I must admit I do rely heavily on time. Which takes me back 11 years ago when I had spent hours planning a boat cruise for my hen do. On the day in question, my friends and I got collected by a minibus and started our journey. Once we hit London, the traffic was the worst I had ever seen. Everyone started to get concerned as we knew we would not make the departure time. Two ladies were already in London, and they spoke to the person in charge to let them know. But by the time we got there, it was too late. We found a restaurant and had a nice meal, but it wasn’t what I anticipated for my hen do. On that occasion, timing was crucial.
What does scripture say about time? Ecclesiastes 3 speaks about time. It tells us there is a time for planting, a time for uprooting – weeping and laughter, mourning and dancing.
Timing matters — but more importantly, God’s timing matters, and His timing is perfect.
In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9
This reminds us that while we may plan, God ultimately directs our journey.
Well, my time’s up. God bless, and use your time wisely!
